FlowPlay is a dynamic game studio located in the heart of Seattle that has been creating community-focused virtual worlds since 2007. With a large global player base and multiple game worlds that span mobile and desktop platforms, we depend on data to understand how our games connect with players, design engaging experiences, and reach new audiences. As a Lead Business Intelligence Analyst, you'll play a key role in guiding us towards our goals.

About the role

In this role, you'll:

Lead. You'll have visibility into the key decisions that FlowPlay is weighing -- from game design to marketing strategy -- and use your judgment to prioritize and drive the analytics initiatives that create the most impact and steer the company toward success.

Design. You'll design data-driven solutions to help answer our most important questions. You'll flex your nuanced understanding of performance measurement to identify the KPIs and methodologies that can answer these questions and use your data design skills to create intuitive visualizations that guide technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.

Manage and organize. You'll define processes and coding standards that improve team efficiency and coordination, turn complex goals into actionable steps, ensure that our data infrastructure and platforms support efficient workflows within the analytics team, write technical specifications, and mentor junior staff.

Implement. You'll get your hands dirty creating reports, dashboards, and statistically rigorous custom analyses that help us monitor the company's health, learn more about our products, and provide the insights needed to make decisions. You'll set examples for junior staff by producing organized datasets, high quality code, and clear documentation.

Communicate. You'll present findings from our analyses in verbal and written form to stakeholders across the organization, including executive leadership.

The minimum requirements for this position are:

  • At least 5 years of experience in senior business analytics roles that include: working with cross-functional teams to gather analytics requirements, turning those requirements into technical designs, and implementing code, reports, and dashboards based on those designs.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading teams of analytics engineers and mentoring junior staff in best practices for designing, coding, and testing analytics products.
  • Experience using PowerBI, AirFlow, SQL, and Python -- or similar tools -- in a production environment.
  • Experience working independently to identify and act upon the most pressing data challenges with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and experience using those skills to communicate technical findings to senior and executive leadership.

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Advanced proficiency in MySQL, including experience optimizing query performance and using subqueries, windowing functions, and cursors.
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI.
  • Experience designing relational database tables, keys, and indices.
  • Experience conducting analytics using large sets of customer and revenue data for companies in the video game or e-commerce industries.
  • Experience with machine learning, A/B testing, and statistical methods for causal inference.
